I am a practicing collaborative and ‘’Resolution Together’’ consultant family solicitor and Family Law Supervisor.

I am also accredited with the Family Mediation Council and The Law Society as a hybrid family mediator and child inclusive mediator. I have been a Professional Practice Consultant (PPC) since 2015 providing supervision to a range of family mediators at different stages in their careers. I have received family mediation supervision since 2010 from several experienced PPCs and researched family law supervision / reflective practice which made me very interested in wanting to train as a Family Law Supervisor.

Having worked both in small high street and large London family law firms as a locum family solicitor I understand various ways of working which means I am aware of the different way of working this way compared to being employed in the firm and the challenges that a locum may face. It can be important to receive supervision when you are suddenly changing firms to work on a new project or having to get familiar with a new and big case load very quickly.

Family Law Supervision gives you the time and space to really focus on you which I believe is important for your professional development and well-being, your family and clients because we all need a safe and confidential space to have reflective practice.

I have worked alongside several supervisees dealing with a whole range of issues in reflective practice which include:

  • helping them with extremely difficult and emotional clients and colleagues.
  • helping one senior associate to go through the partnership process to salaried partner and then making the necessary transition.
  • assisting with burnout at work when moving from a paralegal role to qualification as a Solicitor once they returned to work.
  • working with an overseas Solicitor who has a family law and mixed non family caseload, including challenging criminal cases.
  • boundaries on maintaining a good work – life balance.
  • helping to cope with imposter syndrome.
  • helping lawyers who work remotely and mainly alone at home who don’t have a big support network to discuss work challenges with.

I offer reflective practice sessions across London in person and also online sessions across the UK and abroad.

I have experienced many highs of my own in family law since qualifying which I discuss with my supervisor in supervision. It is important to acknowledge the positive moments in your career.

There have also been times which were difficult, challenging and dark e.g.  with the banking crisis just as I qualified and covid.

I wish that Family Law Supervision was as widely available when I started working in family law in 2006 as it is now. Reflective practice has really transformed my family practice and improved my well-being. I would like to work with you to help you achieve your desired goals, personal growth and also improve your wellbeing.

One supervisee told me that reflective practice is like holding up a mirror to reflect back to them what they are experiencing at work and they then notice things they may not consciously have been aware of, which we then discuss.

I usually meet monthly with supervisees, but sometimes supervision takes place more often if this is beneficial to them.

I am self-employed and enjoy a good work – life balance. Outside of work I manage an LGBTQIA+ football team in London.

If you would like to speak to learn more about family law supervision then do make contact. I really enjoy working as a Family Law Supervisor and would like to be part of your career journey whether it is discussing the difficult and challenging times or celebrating work achievements.
