Family lawyers build trusting relationships with their clients and provide them with a tremendous amount of support at one of the most challenging times in their lives. A confidential supervision space is your time to talk about your work. It is a vital non-judgemental space that allows you to take a step back from the work you do and your relationships with your clients. A space to be listened to, share perspectives and to reflect on the true impact of your work.

Supervision has always been an essential part of my work; I provide supervision to colleagues in the NHS, as well as to family lawyers, and I personally receive regular supervision. This time is incredibly useful and allows me the opportunity to pause and reflect on the work I do and the relationships within it. It helps me to focus on my work and think about the impact it has on my wellbeing, both during and outside of my working hours. Similarly, the work of family lawyers is understandably focussed on the client’s needs and so having this space is extremely beneficial in allowing you to continue your work and take care of yourself as well as your clients.

I am a registered Mental Health Nurse, Mentalization Based Treatment (MBT) Practitioner and Family Law Supervisor. I have worked in the field of adult mental health in the NHS for over 20 years and have a wealth of experience supporting and treating adults with various mental health difficulties. Thinking about and understanding the emotional impact of managing relationships has always been central to my work. I look forward to talking with you about supervision and how you can integrate this valuable space into your working life.
